Deelora graduated from MARA University of Technology in 2021 with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and was subsequently admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Malaysian Bar in 2023. Prior to joining our firm as an associate, she completed her pupillage in chambers here, where she primarily focused on civil litigation and property transactions.
Currently, she serves as a junior legal associate specializes in maritime matters and civil litigation, where her responsibilities encompass handling cases ranging from shipping contracts, cargo disputes, litigation and admiralty issues where she works closely with the Partners of the firm. Her work involves close collaboration with clients, maritime authorities, and industry stakeholders to resolve disputes and navigate regulatory challenges to ensure compliance with international and local laws.
Contentious work
Some work transaction she has been involved in assisting the Partners includes:
- Attending vessel arrest proceedings, ensuring comprehensive legal representation for clients in all aspects in maritime dispute.
- Assisting marine insurers on insurance claim involving cargo disputes, and personal injury onboard vessel;
- Acting on behalf of ship providers and operators in a hire claims against charterers and a fabrication yard for offshore facilities; and
- Conducting research and assisted in providing advice to service providers in pre-construction engineering for a disputes with oil majors company on liquidated damages claims.
In addition to her maritime practice, Deelora is also an integral member of our civil litigation department, where she represents both individuals and companies in various civil cases in contract law, constructions and bankruptcy law. Her scope of work includes handling summons, execution proceedings, and seeking monetary damages on behalf of her clients. She also has a growing presence in criminal litigation, particularly in cases related to shipping and admiralty, building upon her prior experience during pupillage where she assisted senior counsels in remand and bail proceedings through the YBGK (Yayasan Bantuan Guaman Kebangsaan) for the Kuala Lumpur state.
Additionally, Deelora also actively involved in property transactions. She represents property developer, banks and individual clients in property transfers related matters.
